Goals of the Programme and Professional Qualifications
The Joint MA ‘Education and Human Rights’ is orientated towards teaching, research, studying and developing practices for dealing with educational issues. The programme is a joint MA, in the field of siences of education, between the University of Athens and the Institute of Education, University of London. Graduates establish the professional right to participate in national exams (A.S.E.P.) for being appointed in education (public sector).
The arising additional value for the Faculty of Early Childhood Education as also for the Universities of Athens and London is related to the goals of the Programme. In particular the Programme aims at:
– students and teaching staff mobility promoting this way collaborative teaching and students’ familiarization with different educational, social and cultural contexts (greek and english).
– training specialized teachers and scientists who will work in the field of education science and especially in the field of Human Rights in Education and will cover needs in schools, central public educational institutions, such as services at the Ministry of Education, the Pedagogical Insitute, Research Centres, public institutions of education at the local and peripheral level, non-governmental organizations, and private institutions, and who will contribute to the sciences of education and to the promoting of human rights in education.
-formulating scientific staff capable of participating in educational research e.t.c. in studying and designing educational projects e.t.c and in developing and practicing educational policies combatting social discrimination which emerge in the field of educational institutions.
